Arewa group canvasses ministerial appointment for Northwest

A Northern group, Coordinated Arewa Youth Groups, have appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider an additional ministerial appointment for the North West.

Rising from its emergency meeting held in Kano on Thursday, the groups urged President Tinubu to consider the voting strength of the zone in the 2023 general election and its strong support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 election.

In a resolution signed by Balarabe Abdullahi Jega, Zonal Coordinator, North West, the group essentially canvassed for Hon. Nasiru Bala Aminu (Ja’oji) as the new Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

According to the groups, the Ja’oji would be the best replacement for Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, who succeeded Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“With the large concentration of APC supporters from the North West geopolitical zone, we are respectfully calling the attention of our dear President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to kindly consider our zone, particularly Kano, which gave the highest votes to the President, during the 2023 general election.
“We are calling on Mr President to kindly appreciate our own, a voice for the voiceless youth across North, whose unmatched contributions to youth development were acknowledged recently by the Emir of Daura, as he crowned him Adon Garin Kasar Hausa – The Jewel of Hausa Land – Hon Nasir Bala Aminu (Ja’oji),

“A renowned and respected youth of great substance in Kano State and beyond, whose contributions to humanity are acknowledged by many within and outside Kano State, his home state. His contributions to human development generally are unwavering and patriotic,” the statement read.

The groups further cited Ja’oji’s contributions, including the provision of special scholarships for students within and outside Nigeria, who believe in APC’s policy, projects and programmes and unwavering loyalty to the President.

“Ja’oji’s name rings a bell within the political class in the North and within the grassroots people, who own real and genuine votes. All his programmes as a philanthropist are cutting-edge with a touch of global best practices.

“As a member of the Governing Council, he does what none of our present ministers who come from Kano State can attempt to do. His capacity is well defined and appreciated by all. His interventions in various areas, including youth inclusion, women’s empowerment, national integration, and party survival, are noticeable across the North.

“When Hon Ja’oji is appointed as our next Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, we are assuring Mr President that he won’t regret the choice and confidence that would be reposed in him.

“He has all it takes for the position. The capacity is undoubtedly there, political will is always available, and loyalty to the President will be his main thrust for engagement and commitment,” the groups canvassed.
