Operatives of the Kano Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have conducted a sting operation, resulting in the arrest of 24 suspected Internet fraudsters.
The suspects, including Ismaíl Nura, Suuleyman Ayeh, Usman Abdulrazaq,and others, were apprehended following weeks of surveillance for their alleged involvement in Internet fraud, identify thefts and financial scams.
Others are Emmanuel Chigozie, Akabe Seth, Daniel Imoter, Abdulganiyu Jimoh, Jafar Abubakar, Usman Nuraddeen, Mohammad Adnan, Abubakar Abusufyan, Abdulmalik Ibrahim, Abubakar Sadiq, Daniel Masamu, Abdulrasheed Abdulsamad, Issac Dosunu, Nuraddeen Ogunbiyi, Onyeyemi Kaleem, Miracle Joseph, Danjuma Musa, Ibrahim Mubaraq, Yusuf Salihu, Lawal Ibrahim Edebo, Abdulmajeed Suleiman and Dauda Abdulhamid.
According to the EFCC Spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, the suspects were arrested near Bayero University Kano (BUK) New Site.
They were confirmed to be undergraduate students of BUK, and items recovered during the operation included mobile phones, laptops, Internet Routers and a Honda Accord car .
He said the suspects would face charges in court once investigations are concluded.
Similarly, the Delta State Police Command, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, arrested 184 suspects involved in Internet fraud and terrorism financing activities.
The operation took place on July 21, 2025, at the Post Housing Estate in Effurun, Uvwie Local Council of Delta State, at about 5:45 p.m.
Items recovered include 273 assorted laptops, 97 smartphones, one iPad, a table phone, nine laptop chargers, and two Wi-Fi routers.
Confirming the development, the Spokesperson for the Command, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed that the raid led to the arrest of Kelvin Odini, 33, and 183 others.
He said that the latest raid comes amid rising concerns over the increasing rate of cyber-related crimes in the region, vowing to intensify surveillance and community engagement to restore public confidence and security.
Edafe stated that all the suspects and exhibits are in police custody as investigations continue.
The Commissioner of Police, Abaniwonda Olufemi, commended the officers’ professionalism and swift action, promising to sustain intelligence-driven operations to eliminate criminal syndicates from the state.
He said the focus was to make Delta State inhospitable for cybercriminals and other offenders who threaten peace and development.
