Full List: Streets renamed in Lagos

The Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and the Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area recently renamed no fewer than eight and 24 streets in their regions, respectively.

According to the outgoing Chairman of Bariga LCDA, Hon. Kolade Alabi David, the LCDA aimed to recognise individuals who have positively projected the name of the community and contributed meaningfully to national development by renaming streets after them.

The street renaming done by the Ajeromi-Ifelodun LCDA sparked ethn ic exclusion controversies as some residents expressed dismay over the change of streets that were named after people of Igbo descent to Yoruba names.
