Theatre commander urges troops of Sector 2 OPHK to sustain fire during visit

In a show of solidarity and commitment to the ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the North-East, the Theatre Commander of Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), has concluded a three-day operational assessment visit to Sector 2, OPHK Area of Responsibility.

The visit, which took place from July 29 to 31, 2025, was aimed at bolstering troops’ morale, assessing their well-being, and reinforcing directives from the Military High Command.

The Theatre Commander, in a series of addresses to troops across several key formations and Forward Operations Bases, including Sector 2 Headquarters Damaturu, 233 Battalion Damaturu, 159 Battalion Geidam, and FOBs Bukharti, Kanama, Babbangida, and Kukurta, conveyed messages of appreciation and encouragement from the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and Service Chiefs.

He commended the gallant troops for their resilience and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism in the region.

According to the Commander, in a statement by the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Captain Reuben Kovangiya, the welfare and sound administration of personnel remain a top priority of the Military High Command.

He emphasized the importance of discipline, operational aggressiveness, and maintaining momentum in offensive operations until complete peace is restored in the Northeast.

In a strong morale-boosting message, he assured troops of recognition and support for exceptional performance, as reiterated by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen OO Oluyede NAM.

He also urged personnel to comply with the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s social media policy and to channel their concerns through appropriate military structures.

The operational tour featured the commissioning of several new and renovated facilities, including the Sector 2 Main Repair Group Vehicle Bay.

The Commander also visited the Army Logistics Base 3, Level II Field Hospital in Damaturu, and inspected critical combat enablers, troops’ deployments, and other infrastructure.

A notable highlight of the visit was the decoration of Inspector MD Yusuf, who was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent II of Police. The occasions also featured presentations, exchange of souvenirs, and group photographs.

Accompanying the Theatre Commander were the Acting Commander of Sector 2 OPHK, Brigadier General Beyedi Martins, the Commandant of the Nigerian Army Special Forces School, Component Commanders, Sector 2 support commanders, and other key staff officers from the Headquarters Theatre Command OPHK.
