Automatic ticket claims for APC lawmakers mere rumour — Senator

The lawmaker representing Ondo North Senatorial District, Senator Jide Ipinsagba, has described as mere rumour the alleged move by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to grant automatic tickets to lawmakers ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ipinsagba, who chairs the Senate Committee on Public Affairs, told newsmen that no such decision had been taken at any level, stressing that the speculation lacked merit.

The Senator, however, stressed that rewarding outstanding performance was a laudable idea.

He said, “As a procedural person. Anything that is not written, I don’t believe in it. It’s an insinuation. People are thinking ahead of things. Well, if it is the thought of the people, who am I to fault it? There is no place where such a decision was taken.”

Ipinsagba, who reiterated his commitment to delivering quality representation and attracting federal projects to the senatorial district, assured that the proposed Information and Communication Technology in Ikare-Akoko will soon receive the desired nod.

“My constituents remain my top priority. I’m in its development. We have made strides in education, healthcare, and infrastructure, but there is still more work to be done, coupled with the already ongoing ones.”

While speaking about the poor state of federal roads in Ondo North, the senator, who acknowledged the challenges, stated that relevant agencies will be engaged to ensure the roads receive the necessary attention, adding that “while we continue to lobby for federal intervention in road repairs.”

He also spoke about the proposed creation of Ose State, which has a bill that has already passed its first reading in the House of Representatives.

Ipinsagba said, “The bill is still in its early stages, but when it comes before the Senate, we will engage in robust discussions and ensure that the people’s interests are represented.”
