Police arrest four over missing day-old baby in Ekiti hospital

The police in Ekiti State have arrested four suspects in connection with the disappearance of a day-old baby at Okeyimi Health Centre in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

Confusion and despair took over the mother, the family, patients and staff at the hospital when nurses on duty noticed that the baby was missing, in the morning.

Staff members, the baby’s mother, a security guard, and other suspects have been taken in for questioning by the police. As for now, the management of the hospital has not commented on the situation.

However, the state police command spokesperson, SPAbutu Sunday, informed the media that four suspects had been arrested and were providing valuable information to aid the investigation.

The Commissioner of Police (CP), Joseph Eribo, has instructed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to launch a thorough investigation to locate the missing baby.

“The CP has ordered the SCID to conduct a comprehensive investigation and ensure the safe return of the baby. Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime and are cooperating with us,” Sunday stated.
