Nigeria has officially been awarded the hosting rights for the Second African Schools Games, set for 2027. The announcement was made yesterday in Algiers following a competitive bidding process that saw Nigeria triumph over other strong contenders, including South Africa and Kenya.
Nigeria’s successful bid was largely influenced by its recent track record of hosting top-tier competitions, such as the National Sports Festival and the 3rd CAA Africa U18/U20 Athletics Championships, and other events, which were successful.
The delegation that led Nigeria’s bid included the Director General of the Nigeria Sports Commission (NSC), Bukola Olopade, and the President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Habu Gumel.
