Kaduna Governor, Uba Sani, has approved compensation of N3.5 billion for people affected by the construction of the next phase of the 80 new road projects in the state.
The decision to construct the next phase of the road projects and compensate those affected by the exercise was made during the executive state council meeting of the government on Wednesday.
In a statement, the Managing Director, Kaduna State Road Agency (KADRA), Dr. Abdullahi Baba Ahmed, said that “in recognition of the importance of these infrastructures in fostering development, the government is allocating approximately N3.5 billion for compensation and relocation of services along these corridors of construction of the road projects, ensuring that all property owners along the carriage and right-of-way are fully compensated for any disruptions.”
He said, “With the rollout of this second phase of road projects, it is noteworthy that every Local Government Area in Kaduna State has benefited from infrastructure development under the administration of Governor Uba Sani,” adding that “this comprehensive approach ensures that no community is left behind in our pursuit of progress.”
“As many of you may recall, His Excellency, Governor Uba Sani, has consistently articulated a vision for Rural Transformation and urban poor development. This vision aims to bridge the longstanding infrastructure gaps that have left many areas of our state neglected. The decisions made today reflect this administration’s unwavering commitment to that vision and the people of Kaduna State,” Baba Ahmed said.
He remarked, “In the initial two years of this administration, His Excellency, Governor Uba Sani, had initiated the construction of about 80 new road projects, encompassing an impressive 780 kilometres of roadways that connect our communities and enhance access to essential services. Moreover, we have prioritised the completion of many abandoned projects from previous administrations, including critical routes such as the Rabah Road from Arewa House to Rigasa Train Station, and the Sultan to Surame Road in Kaduna North LGA, Dogon Bauchi in Zaria and Sabon Gari LGAs, Hanwan Yangoro in Sabon Gari LGA, and Kafanchan Township Roads in Jemaa LGA.”
He said, “This administration has also revisited older abandoned projects, such as the construction of the Kwagiri – Kussom – Wasa road in Sanga LGA, initiated during the late Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa’s regime of blessed memory, which is now nearing completion. Today’s meeting of the Executive Council has opened a pivotal chapter in our journey towards a new Kaduna, one that promises economic prosperity, improved access to services, and enhanced connectivity for our farming communities to local and even to international markets.”
“I am pleased to report that a significant part of these important road projects has been completed and commissioned, while some have been completed and are awaiting commissioning, and the remaining ones are at the final stages of completion, with most of them at about 70 per cent to 95 per cent completion status. This, however, informed the decision of this administration to roll out the next phase by initiating the new set of road projects for the next stage of development,” he added.
He continued: “It is both timely and necessary to initiate this new set of projects to advance our development agenda further. Today’s Executive Council meeting and the subsequent meetings serve as a milestone and a pivotal moment for developing a new Kaduna State. These important road projects were carefully selected for consideration at the Council.”
Besides, he explained, “Some of the road projects include the construction of an Asphaltic Road from Durum to Kuruntumawa, Makarfi
LGA, reconstruction of Romi-Karatudu Township Roads, Chikun LGA, construction of an Asphaltic Road from Kachia-Zonkwa main Road to the New Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia LGA, and reconstruction of Kwoi Township Roads, Jaba LGA.
“Others are reconstruction and Upgrading of Rigasa Township Roads, Igabi LGA, construction of Kayarda Tasha – Kayarda Gari – U/Sarki – Maskawa – Dan, Alhaji Road, Lere LGA, reconstruction of an Asphaltic Road from Bassawa Junction through Unguwan Rimi to Hunkiyi Junction, connecting Sabon Gari to Kudan LGAS, reconstruction and upgrading of Zango Road to Asibitin Yara and Musawa Road and completion of the abandoned Dual Carriage Road from PAN Drive through Television Garage to Sabon Tasha, Chikun LGA.
