Nwoko offers full scholarships to 90 Delta North students

The Senator representing Delta North, Senator Ned Nwoko, has offered full scholarships to 90 exceptional Delta North students to study at the Sports University of Nigeria in Idumuje-Ugboko.

In a statement at the weekend, Senator Nwoko said: “I believe that true development comes when we invest in the minds and talents of our young people.

“I am proud to announce the award of full scholarships to 90 exceptional students, 10 from each of our nine local government areas, to study at the Sports University of Nigeria in Idumuje-Ugboko.

“This is more than financial assistance; it is an investment in a generation that will combine academic excellence with athletic brilliance. By nurturing scholar-athletes, we are building ambassadors who will represent Delta North and Nigeria with pride, both in the classroom and on the field of play.”

According to him, the students will, among other things,  enjoy 100 per cent tuition-free education for four years, train in world-class sports facilities, have access to modern infrastructure, including 24-hour power supply, high-speed internet, safe campus accommodation, and state-of-the-art sporting complexes.”

Nwoko, who owns the Sports University of Nigeria, said that the institution stands as the first of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa, offering fully accredited programmes across mass communication management and social sciences, sports science and allied health sciences, as well as science architecture.

He noted that admission into this scholarship programme demands discipline, focus and talent, adding: “Beneficiaries must have strong academic records and demonstrable skill in at least one sport.

“The first set of scholarship awardees will resume this academic session, ready to begin a journey that will prepare them for global opportunities. I remain committed to creating pathways for our youth to dream bigger, achieve more, and redefine what is possible.”
