The Managing Director of Abdul Metro Group, Dr. Adekunle Abdul, said the company is partnering with relevant government agencies to leverage initiatives that support the real estate sector, such as improved access to financing and lower interest rates for developers and homebuyers.

Speaking to journalists in Lagos, Abdul said the group has expanded its operational model through joint ventures that will boost production capacity and open new markets. Government collaboration, he noted, is central to this growth agenda, which aims to deliver 500 housing units in the next development phase.

He identified land fraud, limited knowledge among realtors and renters, and weak regulatory oversight as key industry challenges. To address these, the company is setting up a training centre to equip realtors, facility managers, and other stakeholders with skills for ethical, transparent, and professional operations.

“These kinds of programmes can transform the sector if sustained,” Abdul said. “Government has a critical role to play, not just in creating an enabling environment, but in partnering with private developers to accelerate delivery.”

Abdul reaffirmed the company’s commitment to quality housing and integrated community living, citing its track record through its Metro and Castle Homes brand. The firm has delivered 240 units out of an initial 300-unit target in its first five years, evidence, he said, of its capacity to bridge Nigeria’s housing gap through deliberate planning and community-focused development.

“We are not just building houses; we are building communities,” he said. “Every project we undertake is designed to be a complete ecosystem where residents can live, work, shop, and relax without leaving their immediate environment.”

Beyond residential buildings, Abdul Metro has invested in infrastructure and amenities, including a retail site with three supermarkets, a warehouse, and a bakery. A sports centre, featuring a football pitch, basketball and tennis courts, and a recreational area, is also in the works to promote healthy lifestyles and foster community interaction.

The company’s facility management arm ensures all rental estates receive regular maintenance to keep infrastructure, security, and environmental services at optimal standards.

Abdul said the long-term goal is to balance quality, affordability, and sustainability while creating modern, self-sufficient neighbourhoods that support both individual well-being and economic growth.

Head of Operations, Ms Ochanya Udeme-Usoro, added that the company is building systems to improve operational efficiency, with a strong push toward automating core function. “Automation is key to reducing bottlenecks and improving service delivery across all our business arms,” she said.
