The General Manager, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), Dr. Tunde Ajayi, has underscored the importance of regulatory compliance in protecting the environment and promoting sustainable growth.
Speaking at the one day compliance workshop themed, ‘Regulatory Compliance For Sustainable Development, Today And Tomorrow’, Ajayi said manufacturers must be mindful, as their actions have consequences for today and tomorrow.
He added that regulatory compliance is not just about meeting current standards, but also about ensuring a sustainable future for both the present and generations to come.
“The theme of our workshop underscores the importance of compliance in achieving sustainable development. We will explore best practices, share experiences, and deliberate on strategies for balancing economic growth with environmental protection.
“Just a few days ago, LASEPA signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with some environmental organisations, focusing on strengthening policy implementation on regulations and compliance so as to ensure compliance with best standard practices and place our dear state on the path of greatness in environmental sustainability.
“As we are all stakeholders in the journey to a safer, healthier and sustainable environment, we will all be involved in the implementation of the state government policy direction on the newly signed MOU in addressing all forms of environmental violations and infractions that can hinder our collective efforts towards a safer, cleaner and sustainable environment that can guarantee a livable society in the future.”
Ajayi maintained that LASEPA is committed to ensuring that Lagos remains a livable and thriving city for all.
At the workshop were experts, stakeholders, and industry players who discussed critical issues surrounding regulatory compliance.
He thanked all stakeholders, especially the consultant, Messrs Finzbury Heinz Limited for the collaboration towards a safer environment.
