The Kaduna State Commissioner of Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, has described the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s victory in the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency by-election as proof of Governor Uba Sani’s inclusive and people-centred governance.
Maiyaki, who spoke with journalists after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the results, said the outcome reflected the growing trust communities in Kaduna now repose in the governor’s leadership.
Calling the win both “historic and symbolic,” he noted that the constituency had long resisted the APC’s advances, but the party’s breakthrough marked the breaking of a long-standing jinx and the consolidation of its dominance across the state.
According to INEC, the APC polled 34,580 votes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which secured 11,491 votes. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) got 3,477 votes, while the Social Democratic Party (SDP) managed only 142.
Maiyaki attributed the landslide victory to Governor Sani’s grassroots-focused policies in road infrastructure, healthcare, education, and security, which, he said, resonated strongly with voters.
“The people of Chikun, Kajuru, Zaria Kewaye, and Basawa have spoken loud and clear — they want progressive leadership, not recycled promises. They trust Gov. Uba Sani’s leadership style of inclusivity,” he declared amid jubilations.
He added that the victory cements APC’s status as the dominant political force in Kaduna and provides momentum for the party as it looks ahead to 2027.
