PDP convention will usher in new leadership – Shina Peller

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Shina Peller, has expressed optimism that the party’s forthcoming National Convention scheduled for November in Ibadan, Oyo State, will produce a new leadership that reflects the aspirations of Nigerians.

Peller stated this on Tuesday while congratulating the PDP on the victory of Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, winner of the just-concluded Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye-election.

He described Oyekunle’s emergence as a milestone for the PDP family and an affirmation of the people’s trust in the party’s government in Oyo State, led by Governor Seyi Makinde.

“Engr. Seyi Makinde’s leadership has inspired confidence among the electorate in Oyo State,” he said. “The outcome of the Ibadan North bye-election sends a clear message that PDP remains a formidable force in Oyo State and will be the source of a new system people have been yearning for by November 2025, when PDP will be having its national convention in Ibadan.”

Peller noted that Makinde’s Omituntun* agenda is creating opportunities for young people, pointing out that the newly elected lawmaker is only 42 years old, while about 70 per cent of those serving in Makinde’s administration are youths.

According to him, the governor is setting a precedent for a fresh wave of leadership that reflects the yearnings of the younger generation.

“You can’t create change by fighting the present system; you create change by establishing a new functional system that will make the present one obsolete,” Peller added.

He urged Nigerians to look forward to a new PDP leadership that will resonate with the people’s expectations.
