Detectives from the Ilasan Division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested five suspects linked to a car-snatching incident, as well as the buyer of the stolen vehicle.
On August 1, 2025, a taxi driver reported that three men hired his services along Platinum Way, Jakande, Lekki, before robbing him of his black Toyota Corolla at gunpoint and leaving him stranded.
Police investigations led to the arrest of five suspects: 25-year-old Favour Sunday, 28-year-old Ikot Moses, 35-year-old Dickson Ighobue Harrison, 26-year-old Daniel Jonathan, and 27-year-old Joshua Adedamola.
The stolen vehicle was later traced to a 40-year-old man, Wasiu Arinola, who bought it for N500,000, dismantled it, and sold off the parts. He was subsequently arrested in Ibadan, Oyo State.
In a separate case, detectives from the Alausa Police Division arrested a car wash attendant in Sagamu after he attempted to flee with a customer’s vehicle. The attendant was apprehended alongside the stolen car.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Olohundare Jimoh, assured residents and visitors that the Command remains committed to prioritising their safety and security.
He added that efforts are ongoing to recover the pistol used in the robbery, trace other vehicles disposed of by the syndicate, and prosecute all suspects involved. The police also urged members of the public to provide useful information to aid swift investigations.
