Adoration – Part 25

As we do so, compassion for the suffering and hatred for sin will arise in our hearts. With this revelation within us, we will no longer experience pleasure in sin (see Rom 1:32; 2 Thes 2:12; Heb 1:9).
(4) 14 types of people and actions that God hates

“These six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him: 17a. Proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood. 18a. Heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil. 19a. False witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren,” (Prov 6:16-19).

Things God Hates
The book of Proverbs notes 14 types of people and actions that God hates. Let these be guidelines of what we are not to be and do!
Oppressors, perverse people (Proverbs 3:31,32); Haughtiness, lying, murdering, scheming, eagerness to do evil, a false witness, sowing discord (Proverbs 6:16-19); those who are untruthful (Proverbs 12:22); the sacrifice of the wicked (Proverbs15:8); the way of the wicked (Proverbs 15:9); the thoughts of the wicked (Proverbs 15:26); those who are proud, arrogant (Proverbs 16:5; 8:13); those who judge unjustly (Proverbs 17:15); evil way, perverse mouth (Proverbs 8:13).
(1) Seven ways to guarantee God’s anger
The Seven Woes In Matthew
• Not letting others enter the kingdom of heaven and not entering yourselves (23:14).
• Converting people away from God to be like yourselves (23:15).
• Blindly leading God’s people to follow man-made traditions instead of God’s word (23:16-22).
• Involving yourself in every last detail and ignoring what is really important; justice, mercy and faith (23:23,24).
• Keeping up appearances while your private world is corrupt (23:25,26).
• Acting spiritual to cover up sin (23:27,28).
• Pretending to have learned from past history, while your present behaviour shows you have learned nothing (23:29-36).

Jesus mentioned seven ways to guarantee God’s anger, often called the “seven woes.” These seven statements about the religious leaders must have been spoken with a mixed tone of judgment and sorrow. They were strong and unforgettable. They are still applicable any time we become so involved in perfecting the practice of religion that we forget that God is also concerned with mercy, real love and forgiveness.
(6) Crooked judges and those who make unjust laws

“Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees, who write misfortune, which they have prescribed to rob the needy of justice, and to take what is right from the poor of My people, that widows may be their prey and that they may rob the fatherless,” (Is 10:1,2).

10:1, God will judge crooked judges and those who make unjust laws. Those who oppress others will be oppressed themselves. It is not enough to live in a land founded on justice; each individual must deal justly with the poor and the powerless.
