Six persons including two children on Friday died in an auto crash that occurred around Suponri Village near ICT Polytechnic, Itori axis of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway corridor of Ogun State.
Nineteen persons also sustained varying degrees of injuries from the accident.
Involved in the crash is a Grey Colour Toyota Bus with Reg. No. KJA 851 YH.
Spokesperson of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta on Friday night.
Akinbiyi said that the cause of the accident was as a result of a tyre burst which led the vehicle to somersault as the driver lost control of the bus.
He said that 25 persons boarded the bus while six occupants (two Male Adults, two Female Adults, one Male Child and one Female Child) died in the crash.
The TRACE Public Relations Officer added that 19 other passengers (five Male Adults, nine Female Adults, one Male Child and four Female Children) in the vehicle also sustained injuries.
He said that the injured victims had been taken to General Hospital, Ifo, for medical attention, while the presumed dead bodies had been taken to the hospital’s morgue.
Akinbiyi said that traffic was partially affected during the rescue operation, while the vehicle had been towed to Police MTD, Itori, for further investigation as normalcy was restored back to the road.
