Kefas launches TARAVEST as Taraba’s investment hub

Taraba State governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has officially launched TARAVEST as the state’s flagship investment platform, unveiling a Post-TARAVEST Committee to drive capital mobilisation and fast track development across key sectors.

At a ceremony held at the TY Danjuma Government House in Jalingo on Monday, governor Kefas declared Taraba “open for business,” emphasizing the state’s readiness to transform its natural and economic potential into tangible prosperity.

He tasked the 13-member committee, chaired by former House Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu, with developing a 100-Day Action Plan focused on quick win projects and an investment prospectus targeting agriculture, energy, logistics, tourism, education, and solid minerals.

“TARAVEST will serve as Taraba’s central investment hub driving projects that create jobs and deliver measurable development. No white elephant projects. Every naira must translate into roads, factories, farms, schools, hospitals, and jobs,” Kefas said.

He assured investors, development partners, and financial institutions of a transparent, rule based process, aligned with his administration’s 2027–2031 development blueprint titled A Better Life for Taraba Citizens.

Governor Kefas further urged the committee members to execute their duties with “integrity, urgency, and courage,” stressing that “the work begins now.”

Speaking, Elumelu described TARAVEST 2025, held in May, as a historic success that repositioned Taraba as “Africa’s New Investment Frontier.” The summit, he said, attracted over 680 investor delegates and 255 delegations, including diplomats, global business leaders, and traditional rulers.

“TARAVEST 2025 showcased Taraba’s untapped potential in agriculture, mining, energy, and industrialization,” Elumelu said. “Experts estimate that the summit unlocked more than $500 billion in potential investments if properly harnessed.”

He added that the event was delivered at minimal cost to the state, thanks to private sponsorship and support from allies of the administration.

Presenting the summit report to Governor Kefas, Elumelu pledged that the committee would pursue its post-summit mandate with “diligence and commitment,” promising, “We will not let Taraba down.”
