NSIB confirms six injured in Abuja-Kaduna train accident

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has confirmed that six persons sustained injuries in the Abuja-Kaduna railway incident that occurred on Tuesday morning.

In a statement, the bureau’s spokesperson, Mrs. Bimbo Oladeji, said a “go-team” has been deployed to the site to gather evidence, engage relevant stakeholders, and commence an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The Bureau expressed sympathy with the injured passengers and extended its support to all those affected. It noted that the investigation would focus on identifying both the immediate and underlying causes of the derailment, to issue safety recommendations to prevent a recurrence.

Director General of NSIB, Captain Alex Badeh Jr., also sympathised with passengers who sustained injuries, assuring that investigators had been deployed to determine the root cause of the incident.

“Our commitment is to ensure safer rail transport for Nigerians through a transparent and independent investigation,” Badeh said, adding that updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
