The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration of confusion and disorientation, following the state government’s filing of a Supreme Court suit against the Federal Government over local government council allocations.
In a statement on Wednesday, APC Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, condemned the state government’s handling of the issue, saying it reflects a lack of diplomacy, competence, and understanding required to govern a complex state like Osun.
“It is surprising that the government that has a duty to respect the rule of law is the one promoting mudslinging and blackmail to bully the opposition to silence over their lawful reinstatement into the councils and the Federal Government and its ministers to act contrary to the laws of the land,” Olabisi said.
He expressed astonishment that the Adeleke administration had discontinued an earlier suit at the Supreme Court less than six weeks ago, only to return with a new case on the same issues without presenting different facts.
Olabisi argued that the move underscores the state government’s disarray. “It is a big proof of a fact that Osun State is in a big mess to have once entrusted its future in the hands of the current occupiers of the Bola Ige House,” he added.
The APC’s statement reflects rising tensions between the state government and the opposition over control and management of local government allocations, a dispute that has repeatedly reached the courts.
