Court orders parties in River Park Estate to stay action, adjourns sine die

Justice C.O. Agachieze of the Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja, has ordered the parties involved in the disputed ownership of River Park Estate in Abuja to maintain the status quo ante and adjourned the case indefinitely (sine die).

Ruling in the suit marked CV/2902/2025 between Jona Capital Nigeria Limited (the claimant) and Paulo Homes Nigeria Limited (the defendant), Justice Agachieze ruled that all activities within the disputed sprawling estate must remain halted until further notice. With this ruling, both the claimant and the defendant are required to cease any actions within the disputed estate.

The ruling followed the submission by the counsel representing Paulo Homes Nigeria Limited, Oluwabunmi S. Adebiyi, who filed a further and more detailed affidavit on August 18, 2025, along with a letter from CP Akin Fakorede.

The letter was addressed to the Director of Land Administration and copied to AGIS Development Control and Paul Odili of Paulo Homes. The letter, which caused controversy, appears to direct that all government transactions should go through Paulo Homes, essentially declaring Paul Odili as the sole owner of the disputed estate despite ongoing court cases.

It was argued that this blatantly disregarded the directives of both the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and the Inspector-General of Police.
