NITDA, Google host workshop to advance cybersecurity

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and Google are working together to drive Nigeria’s digital transformation.

NITDA disclosed this on Thursday via a post it shared on its official X account, following the recent meeting between President Bola Tinubu and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Google, Sundar Pichai, in Paris, France, which has sparked a new wave of digital innovation in Nigeria.

According to NITDA, a key aspect of this collaboration is a two-day workshop, held in partnership with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), focused on advancing cybersecurity cooperation.

It stated that the workshop explored potential areas of partnership to strengthen Nigeria’s cybersecurity ecosystem, enhance digital trust, and build resilience across sectors.

NITDA is a federal government agency established by the National Information Technology Development Act (2007) to implement Nigeria’s IT policy, regulate Information Technology (IT) practices, and drive digital transformation for sustainable national development.

Its primary functions include developing and promoting IT in the country, providing regulatory frameworks and standards, serving as the clearinghouse for IT projects, and fostering innovation and skills development.
