In a bit to ensure their listeners and other audiences continue to experience the divine fusion of faith and sound associated with their music, the Jeremiah Music Band also known as JMBand has redefined the boundaries of music, channeled their gospel into contemporary sound.
Founded by Jeremiah Oluwatoke, the band has continued to carve a niche in Nigeria’s live performance scene with a foundation deeply rooted in gospel music.
“Everything we do flows from that spiritual foundation. Even when we explore other genres, the discipline and passion came from gospel,” says Oluwatoke, who began his journey as a church musician, emphasizing gospel remains the backbone of the group’s creativity.
Known for blending Afrobeat, Highlife, Jazz, and contemporary sounds, the band traces its discipline and stagecraft to years of performing in church choirs and gospel concerts. Members of the group describe gospel as the compass that shapes both their artistry and professional ethic.
From intimate weddings to extravagant corporate galas and expansive cultural gatherings, JMBand has earned acclaim for its remarkable versatility. However, what truly defines its performances is the profound influence of gospel music.
According to Oluwatoke, music transcends mere sound, embodying deep meaning and connection. “Gospel taught us that music is about message, not just melody. That lesson has carried us everywhere,” he said.
