Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Monday presided over a high-level security council meeting in Ilorin, where commanders of the various agencies provided extensive briefings on ongoing operations to strengthen safety across the state.
The closed-door session, according to a statement made available to The Guardian by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, brought together heads of the police, the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army, Navy and Air Force, alongside the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Immigration Service and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency. Senior government officials, including the Secretary to the State Government and the Attorney General, were also in attendance.
During the meeting, the security chiefs detailed recent operations, which have led to multiple arrests, prosecutions, and the interception of arms believed to be in transit to hostile non-state actors. The Governor, according to the statement, expressed appreciation to the operatives for their “immense sacrifice” in protecting lives and property.
AbdulRazaq urged continued vigilance, stressing that public support through timely intelligence remained critical to sustaining the gains recorded. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing the resources and backing required by security agencies to carry out their duties effectively.
