Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets squad for the 2023 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations in Algeria will feature one of Lagos’ grassroots football’s brightest prospects after Kakawa FC’s Isaac Anongu Aondoakaa secured a place in the final 26-man list.
Aondoakaa, only 14 years old and currently an SS1 student of David Hall International College, Lagos, has risen quickly through the ranks to establish himself as a versatile attacking midfielder. Known for his blistering pace, intelligent movement, and ability to both create and score goals, he is regarded as one of the most exciting young players in the Golden Eaglets’ setup.
Born in Benue State, Aondoakaa began his football journey at Government Secondary School, Gboko before joining Kakawa FC, where his development has been closely guided. His rapid growth at the academy level and consistent performances in grassroots competitions earned him a national team call-up earlier this year.
Officials at Kakawa FC described his inclusion as a proud moment for the club and grassroots football in Lagos, affirming the academy’s growing contribution to Nigeria’s youth development pathway.
The Golden Eaglets will begin their Group B campaign against Zambia before facing Morocco and South Africa, with hopes of qualifying for the FIFA U-17 World Cup later in the year.
