Ogun 2027: Group decries opposition attacks on Senator Adeola

The Ogun West Initiative (OWI) has warned political opponents to desist from what it described as underhanded attacks aimed at tarnishing the image of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), who represents Ogun West in the Senate.

Speaking against the backdrop of political developments in the state, OWI Convener, Olootu Bolaji Adeniji, described Adeola as a symbol of transformational leadership whose performance has redefined politics and governance in Ogun West.

According to Adeniji, any attempt by “anti-Yayi forces” to derail the senator’s rising political profile ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial election “will fail woefully.”

He stressed that Adeola’s popularity is organic, uncoerced, and rooted in gratitude for his service to the people.

He noted that Adeola’s political trajectory and efforts to emancipate Ogun West from decades of neglect have been further strengthened by the political reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

“Never before has Ogun West felt the impact of democracy like it has under Senator Yayi,” Adeniji said.

“He is setting new standards of representation with his people-focused empowerment programs, infrastructural development, and facilitation of federal projects across all 59 wards of Ogun West.”

Among Adeola’s recent achievements, the group highlighted the distribution and energization of transformers in 102 communities across Ogun State and the commissioning of 90 projects in six days across the five local government areas in Ogun West — a feat Adeniji described as unprecedented.

He likened Adeola’s leadership style to that of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, noting that the senator’s work represents a return to the era when politics was used as a genuine tool for socioeconomic upliftment.

Although Adeola has yet to formally declare his interest in the 2027 governorship race, Adeniji said the public clamour for his candidacy is “deafening” and cuts across party lines and all three senatorial districts.

He, however, expressed concern about what he described as the “growing desperation” of political opponents, both within and outside the All Progressives Congress (APC), to slow Adeola’s momentum.
