emPawa Africa, a leading independent music company on the continent, has appointed Miller Williams as its new Head of Publishing, a move expected to expand the global footprint of African music creators.
Williams brings over 20 years of experience in publishing and A&R, having held senior roles at Kobalt Music, Sony ATV UK, BMG Records UK, PWL Records UK, and Terrace Music in Nashville. At Kobalt, he served as Senior Vice President of Creative, overseeing songwriter services, catalogue acquisitions, and creative development.
He also worked closely with Kobalt’s sync teams, positioning writers worldwide and spearheading notable successes in the K-pop market.
Prior to Kobalt, Williams played a key role in launching and growing Global Talent Publishing into one of the UK’s most respected independent publishing companies.
Commenting on the appointment, emPawa founder, Oluwatosin “Mr Eazi” Ajibade, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Miller to emPawa Africa. His wealth of expertise and global network will strengthen our vision to put African music creators on the world stage while ensuring they receive the value and recognition they deserve.”
As Head of Publishing, Williams will oversee emPawa’s publishing strategy across Africa and internationally. His responsibilities will include driving catalogue growth, establishing songwriter partnerships, expanding sync opportunities, and increasing the global reach of African music.
Industry analysts say the appointment signals emPawa Africa’s commitment to positioning the continent’s music creators at the forefront of the global industry, leveraging Williams’ experience to open doors for international collaborations and exposure.
