The Osun State Government has launched Imole Wi-Fi, a free public internet service designed to expand digital access and support socio-economic development across the state.
The initiative was unveiled by the Innovation, Science, Technology, and Digital Economy Office under the Office of the Special Adviser, and is part of the government’s broader efforts to drive digital inclusion and economic growth.
The service is currently available at several key locations in the state capital, including the Osun State Library, Osun Mall, Alphastart Hub, Salvation Army Middle School, Osogbo Grammar School, and Ministry of Innovation, Science, Technology, and Digital Economy sites.
Governor Ademola Adeleke described the project as a major step toward bridging the digital divide in the state.
“Imole Wi-Fi is a gateway to opportunity. With this public digital infrastructure, we are cutting barriers, connecting people, and driving growth across every sector of Osun’s economy.” Adeleke said.
Special Adviser on Innovation, Science, and Technology, Mr. Azeez Badmus, noted that the current rollout is just the beginning, with plans to expand the service across more locations.
Badmus said: “This is just the first step. As we expand Imole Wi-Fi, more government services and sector-specific tools will follow, ensuring that every resident benefits from Osun’s digital future.”
According to the state government, the Imole Wi-Fi project is expected to benefit students, job seekers, entrepreneurs, healthcare providers, farmers, and local communities by enabling access to online education, employment opportunities, health services, agricultural information, and improved communication for public safety.
The state government said the Wi-Fi project seeks to expand digital access and support education, employment, healthcare, and community safety throughout Osun State.
