Apple has unveiled the iPhone 17, its latest standard model, introducing a larger screen and significant camera improvements while retaining much of the design language of last year’s iPhone 16.
It was unveiled at an event held on Tuesday. The event set the stage for the unveiling of new additions to Apple’s hardware lineup, including updates to the iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods.
Apple chief executive Tim Cook opened the company’s latest product showcase by stressing the central role of design in its identity and innovation strategy.
The new device features a 6.3-inch display with Apple’s 120Hz ProMotion technology, promising smoother scrolling and improved responsiveness. The company has also introduced refreshed colour options, including lavender, mist blue, black, white and sage.
According to Apple, the rear camera now uses a 48-megapixel “dual fusion” setup, merging the capabilities of a main and telephoto lens into a single unit. On the front, a new 12-megapixel camera has been added with a sensor twice the size of that found on the iPhone 16, offering sharper images and enhanced video calling through the Centre Stage feature.
