TankVolt T22 electric bikes handed over to BXL

Swap Station Mobility (SSM), Nigeria’s pioneering Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) company, has deployed the first batch of TankVolt T22 electric motorbikes to Battery Xpress Logistics (BXL) at a handover ceremony in Lagos.

The event, held earlier in the week, brought together partners, customers and industry stakeholders to mark a significant milestone in Nigeria’s push for sustainable mobility. SSM Co-Founder, Obiora Okoye, while handing over the initial fleet, emphasised the importance of the partnership.

“This handover represents more than the delivery of electric vehicles—it is the beginning of a cleaner, smarter transport system in Nigeria. By partnering with logistics companies like BXL, we are demonstrating the real-world impact of affordable, reliable, and sustainable mobility solutions,” he said.

The TankVolt T22, designed in partnership with TankVolt, is tailored to the needs of Nigeria’s logistics and delivery sector. Supported by SSM’s battery swap infrastructure, the model allows riders to quickly exchange batteries at strategically located swap stations, eliminating downtime.

The bikes offer lower operating costs than petrol motorbikes while reducing carbon emissions and urban pollution.
BXL, one of the early adopters, plans to deploy the bikes for last-mile delivery across Lagos to demonstrate the commercial viability of electric two-wheelers.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Ngene of BXL said the company was proud to pioneer electric mobility in Nigeria’s logistics sector.
TankVolt’s Business Development Manager, Omotola Solomon, added that the bikes could cover up to 120 kilometres per charge, with battery options for both sport (80–90 km) and economy (120 km) modes. He explained that the current fleet already included about 150 bikes operating in Nigeria, with more than 1,000 units across Africa.
