One person was confirmed dead yesterday in an accident involving a Toyota Hilux and a truck along the Ogbere Bridge on the Benin-Ore/Ijebu Ode Expressway in Ogun State.
The crash, which occurred between a white Aumam truck with registration number T 17851 LA and a white Toyota Hilux marked A1/2 09NC, also left two female occupants injured, while another passenger escaped unhurt.
Spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the collision involved four people: two male and two female adults. He explained that the Hilux driver drove against traffic, leading to a head-on collision with the truck.
“The driver of the Hilux drove in a direction prohibited by the traffic law and had a head-on collision with the truck,” Akinbiyi said.
According to him, TRACE operatives rushed the injured victims to Ola Oluwa Hospital, Ogbere, while the deceased was taken to the Ijebu-Ode General Hospital mortuary by Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officers.
He added that both vehicles had been cleared from the road and normal traffic flow restored.
