Fair exposes teenagers to intrigues of successful entrepreneurship

The just-concluded two-day business and career fair, organised by Ikoyi Baptist Church (IBC), has exposed teenagers, including young adults, to the skills needed to become successful entrepreneurs.

A certified coach and Chairperson of the fair, Ekhoe Ame-Ogie, urged the participants to be diligent, proactive, and teachable to emerge as successful entrepreneurs.

Before venturing into any business, Ame-Ogie, who is also a Global Talent Management Leader, said young adults must understand what they want to do, study the business and be ready to access opportunities, among others.

One of the facilitators and a panellist, Chief Executive Officer, Hazon Holdings, Dr Victor Afolabi, urged the participants to be resilient and be ready to take risks as they journey in life.

He emphasised social capital, which he said includes building relationships and integrity, are critical to raising financial capital.

Head, Trade, Finance, Business and Commercial Banking, IBTC, Ifeoma Abdullahi, advised anyone going into a business to understand the nature of the business, establish the market for the business first, and ensure he or she has the resources at hand to take off.

The Keynote Speaker, Niyi Adekunle, who spoke on ‘Building Faith and Fortune in the Marketplace’, emphasised the importance of maximising one’s life and remaining undaunted in the face of challenges.

He itemised areas of focus to include building one’s faith in God, stressing: “The field which is your work, sense of productivity, recreation, and legacy that would add value to other people’s lives.”

Speaking on the theme ‘Maximise Your Ground’, IBC Pastor, Olusegun Adeleke, defined the theme as resulting in being plentiful and experiencing a bountiful harvest.
