The National Examinations Council (NECO) has honoured its staff and students for their hard work, dedication, and outstanding performance during the 2024 Productivity Award ceremony held at its headquarters in Minna on Thursday, September 18, 2025.

Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, presented certificates of service to retired staff in recognition of their loyalty, commitment, and years of meritorious service to the council.

He explained that the 2024 awards were presented in various categories, including Certificate of Service to retirees, Most Hardworking and Dedicated Staff of the Year, Best State Coordinator, Best Driver, and awards for excellent student performance across all NECO examinations conducted during the year under review.

Wushishi commended stakeholders for their contributions to the council’s successes over the past three years, highlighting achievements such as the timely conduct and release of internal examination results, transparent staff promotion exercises, and the development of ICT software to promote fairness.

He also noted that NECO staff had benefited from training and retraining programmes, acquisition of PS 900 series components for OMR scanning machines, provision of all-in-one computer systems for the 36 states, Abuja, and zonal offices, as well as the procurement of e-Granary databases to give subject officers access to e-resources.

In his keynote address, Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Abdulmalik Sarkin-Daji, praised Professor Wushishi’s leadership, describing him as a man of integrity who has driven the council’s reforms effectively. He also donated N1 million to the best students recognised by NECO.
