Jigawa governor endorses Tinubu for second term

Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has publicly endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term, praising his administration’s policies and reforms as crucial for Nigeria’s future.

Speaking at the state government’s Weekly Citizens’ Engagement Programme in Roni Local Government Area, Namadi said Tinubu had “earned the trust of Nigerians” through the “visible changes and economic reforms” implemented in just two years.

In a symbolic show of support, the governor raised both hands and flashed the four-finger salute, widely interpreted as an endorsement of Tinubu’s 2027 presidential bid, while supporters cheered and a popular praise song by musician Rarara played in the background.

Addressing journalists after the event, Namadi said his declaration reflected the will of Jigawa’s people, who remain firmly committed to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Tinubu’s leadership.

The governor also disclosed that the National Economic Council has urged the President to reinstate fertiliser and petroleum subsidies.

He expressed confidence that Tinubu, whom he described as “a listening leader,” would act soon in the interest of farmers and ordinary Nigerians.

The event also saw over 1,600 members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) formally defect to the APC.

The state APC Deputy Chairman warned against internal disloyalty and pledged that the party would purchase nomination forms for Namadi when the time comes.

Former Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu, who also spoke at the event, assured Nigerians that the country would overcome its current challenges, stressing that national unity remains the country’s greatest strength.

Namadi’s endorsement adds to the growing number of APC leaders rallying behind President Tinubu as preparations for the 2027 general election gather momentum.
