Gunmen abduct two brothers from cassava farm in Kwara

Two brothers were abducted on Wednesday night by gunmen while working on their cassava farm in the Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The incident reportedly occurred in the Bokungi Zambufu community in Lafiagi.

According to a source, the attackers, numbering about four and heavily armed, stormed the farm and opened fire sporadically before whisking the victims away to an unknown destination.

“No contact has been made to demand ransom, but I saw the military with two suspects and cannot confirm if they are part of the kidnappers,” the source said.

Meanwhile, the Kwara State Government has urged residents in Ekiti, Ifelodun, Isin, Oke Ero, and Irepodun Local Government Areas to remain vigilant and limit outdoor movements.

This comes as security personnel intensify operations against kidnappers in border communities between Kwara and Kogi states.
