TEETH 4 TEETH … With Justin Akpovi-Esade

Who Will Tell This Nollywood Actress The Difference?
Nollywood actors, well, most of them sha, need to be trained on how to pronounce some English words. It is always embarrassing to hear an actor proudly say, “how ‘dear’ you”. He or she actually meant to say “how dare you”. Only a few of them get this ‘dear’ and ‘dare’ correctly.

This grammatical kamikaze is committed by even top stars and to be honest, T4T is always aghast when he hears it. So, he was embarrassed recently when one of Nollywood’s hottest stars at the moment, Queeneth Hilbert was repeatedly telling Zubby Michael in the movie titled ‘Save My Body’, “I will ‘sui’ you”. She said it more than three times and at a point, T4T was silently praying she should not do it again. Yes, the tall , beautiful ‘yellow paw paw’ actress was telling Michael that she would sue him for harassing her, but what was coming out of her mouth was ‘sui’, not sue. Maybe, she was pronouncing sue in her mother tongue and honestly, T4T has no idea where the tall actress hails from in Nigeria(going by her two oyinbo names), so, let us just bear with her that sue is pronounced ‘sui’ in her dialect.

Anyway, the film was directed by Emeka Ekwedike, who could not even cut and ask aunty Qui Qui to retake that part again.

Peller And Nigeria Police
NIGERIANS cannot stop talking about the embarrassing way most Nigeria police personnel, especially the ones on the road, conduct themselves. This is aside their extortionist and corrupt ways.

In the eyes of an average policeman, any Nigerian is game and a potential victim of extortion, that is why when you are stopped on the road by the police; the familiar question is always, “wetin you get for us?” God help you if you nor get anything for dem. And that is why most commercial drivers keep a stash of 200 naira notes in a particular place in the car which they dig into and give to the policemen on roadblocks who shamelessly, publicly collect it and put it in an already bulging side pocket of their uniforms where other of such monies are sitting pretty.

So, T4T was not surprised when he saw the video online where popular skit maker, Peller was stopped by some policemen on the road and before he pulled over, he was already searching for where he kept the money he was going to give to them. He found it and without bothering to kill the engine, just thrusts it into the hands of the elderly cop who obviously had recognised and was hailing him already. The embarrassing part was, the policeman asked for more and Peller who was already driving away, said he was keeping the rest for his likes he would likely meet on the road that day.

T4T has said before that even if God decides to send Angel Gabriel to become the Inspector General of the Nigeria police, he will be so frustrated, he would have no choice than to run back to Baba God and say, “I nor do again!”
And don’t come and tell T4T that what he saw was a ‘skit’.

Take Heart, Aunty Peju
NOLLYWOOD star actress Peju Ogunmola recently lost her only child, a son. An adult son for that matter! Ogunmola is one Yoruba actor T4T loves so much. She plays every role like she lives it and that is why T4T is using this medium to tell her to take heart. There is no way to comfort her.

T4T feels your pain.
Journalist, Politician And Now, Actor, Only You!
ON Thursday morning, T4T was tuned to the Yoruba movie channel on Pay TV. He quickly wanted to soak in some movie before he leaves home. There was this movie titled, Alagbara, showing and T4T was well, ‘multi tasking’; that is, if you call working the iPad, tablet, phone and taking an occasional peek at the TV screen, that.

It got to a scene in the movie where a ‘big man’ was introduced. T4T looked closely at the actor. He had not seen him in a Yoruba movie before and T4T had watched quite a lot of Yoruba movies, but the face of this ‘big man’ looks very familiar. And then the nickel dropped! He was no other person than veteran journalist, Dele Momodu popularly called Bob Dee.

Bob Dee is also a politician, now; he has thrown movie acting into the mix. T4T will not be surprised to see Bob Dee doing an architect’s job soon. If you dull for dis Lagos, you nor go see food eat. And like the Urhobo say, “nor be only one gate dem dey pass enta market”. Bob Dee, when I grow up, I will not only be like you, I will outdo you, by adding acting and bricklaying to my journalism. Sha, I will leave the politics for you.

In case you want to know more about the movie, you already know the title, but you may not know that it was directed by Abbey Lanre and it featured Yoruba movie stars such as Dele Odule, Jide Kosoko, Taiwo Hassan (Ogogo), Tina Mba and the one and only emerging movie star, BOB DEE!
