AssetHaus Limited has emphasised the need for real estate developers to embrace sustainability by managing and developing properties with minimal environmental and social impacts, while prioritising energy and water efficiency.
Speaking at the launch of Oakview Residence in Surulere, Lagos, the company’s Chief Finance Officer, Dayo Adenubi, said sustainability in the built environment is now imperative.
He noted that the initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11, which seeks to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.
“We have constructed the building in a way that is sustainable. Most of the construction materials are locally sourced. When you see developments in Lagos, you don’t usually see green vegetation, but that’s something we achieved with this project. We are also making it accessible to the middle class, unlike most projects concentrated on Lagos Island,” Adenubi explained.
He added that the company is cultivating a culture of sustainability while redefining hospitality in Lagos State.
Also speaking, the Chief Executive Officer of AssetHaus, Adebolu Mayowa, described Oakview as a short-let project under Crestville Apartments, the property management subsidiary of AssetHaus Limited. The facility comprises 12 studio apartments.
Mayowa acknowledged challenges in the sector, particularly limited access to finance, noting that the tough economic climate has caused many to overlook opportunities in real estate. Despite this, he expressed optimism that Lagos’ property market is poised for growth.
