President Bola Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, following allegations levelled against him.
Nnaji, who was appointed in August 2023 as part of the President’s first cabinet, tendered his resignation in a letter dated October 7, 2025, expressing gratitude to the President for the opportunity to serve the nation.
In his letter, Nnaji claimed he had become the target of sustained blackmail and political attacks, which he said had become a distraction to the discharge of his duties.
He noted that his decision to step down was made in the interest of protecting the integrity of the government and allowing due process to take its course.
Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement, Tuesday night, explained that President Tinubu, in accepting the resignation, commended Nnaji for his contributions to national development during his time in office and wished him success in his future endeavours.
The Presidency is expected to announce a replacement in due course to ensure continuity in the ministry’s operations.
