In a remarkable display of community partnership and service, Taiwan Root Medical Peace Corps has partnered with Lagos State Government, through Health District II, as well as the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, to deliver a comprehensive four-day free medical outreach to residents of Agboyi-Ori Omi, Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), and other communities within the District.
The outreach, which brought together a team of foreign medical professionals from Taiwan, alongside Nigerian healthcare experts, runs from Monday, October 6 to Thursday, October 9, 2025. It commenced at Agboyi-Ori Omi, with subsequent sessions scheduled for Ketu Primary Healthcare Centre and Ikorodu Italewa PHC.
Over 1,000 residents benefited from the opening day at Agboyi-Ori Omi, receiving free medical consultations, dental and eye care, health screenings, medications, and free eyeglasses — all in line with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Plus Agenda on Health and Social Welfare.
Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, who facilitated the outreach, was ably represented by Desmond Elliot, the lawmaker representing Surulere Constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
In his remark, Elliot highlighted the Federal Government’s commitment to improving healthcare access for all Nigerians, particularly at the community health level, in alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Also, while addressing the participants, Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health District II, Dr Dayo Lajide, appreciated all partners involved and reiterated the District’s mission to bring quality healthcare closer to the people. She emphasised that such initiative reflects the THEMES Plus Agenda of Sanwo-Olu, especially in the areas of preventive and community health.
Similarly, Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Tola Abubakar, commended both the federal and state governments for their unwavering commitment to citizens’ welfare, lauding the Chief of Staff and the Permanent Secretary for choosing Agboyi-Ketu as one of the host communities.
In his royal remark, the Olu of Agboyi Kingdom, Oba Monsuru Abimbola Ladega, expressed profound gratitude to the organisers for extending such a life-changing initiative to his community, describing it as a milestone in public health engagement.
The team lead, Dr Shufang Okorie, who spoke on behalf of the Taiwan Root Medical Peace Corps delegation, appreciated the warm hospitality of the Lagos State government and reaffirmed the group’s commitment to sustained partnership in advancing healthcare delivery across underserved communities.
