Kefas moves to accelerate sports development

Taraba State Governor, Dr Agba Kefas, has upped the tempo in the state’s sports development programme with the appointment of some critical stakeholders to head different arms of the project.
 
Among the new appointees announced on Tuesday by the office of the secretary to the state government is Joshua Joseph, who will serve as the governor’s Special Adviser, National Sports Development and Integration.
 
Others are Kabiru Sule, who is the new Special Assistant, Community Sports; Coach Bulus Husseini, chairman, Taraba State Sport Development Commission, which has Josie Daniel Ayuba, Ramatu Samaila, Mohammed Musa, Abdulraman Musa, Zachariah Garpiya, Abubakar Adamu and Sadiq Moyoyo as members of the committee.
 
The commission also has as members representatives of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Ministry of Tertiary Education, Military/Paramilitary agencies, Persons with Disability, the Ministry of Justice, Youth, as well as traditional rulers and religious leaders.

According to a statement by the office of the secretary to the state governor, “the Youth Agency and Sports Commission were formed after the dissolution of the former Ministry of Youths and Sports Development to allow the youths to participate in governance and sports development a better chance to develop better and faster.” It said that the new appointments are with immediate effect.
