Political activist and former All Progressives Congress (APC) spokesman, Timi Frank, has urged President Bola Tinubu to carry out a major review of the nation’s security leadership following renewed attacks and killings in several parts of the country.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, Frank described the continued violence as a national tragedy that demanded urgent executive attention. He cited recent reports of soldiers killed in Borno State as evidence of persistent security lapses and called for stronger accountability in defence operations.
Frank, who currently represents the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) as Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, also acknowledged growing international concern about Nigeria’s security situation.
He commended US President Donald Trump and Senator Ted Cruz for their recent comments highlighting the need for improved protection of civilians and human rights in Nigeria.
Frank further urged Nigeria’s allies, including the United States, to continue promoting dialogue, the rule of law, and transparent legal processes in addressing domestic security and governance challenges.
He also reiterated his appeal for fairness in the ongoing legal case involving the detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, stressing that due process should guide all judicial actions.
While criticising what he described as weak oversight by the National Assembly, Frank urged lawmakers to focus on enforcing accountability across security agencies and ensuring that budgetary allocations are effectively utilised.
