By awarding full scholarships to five graduating pupils of CleverMinds Free Primary School, Iyara, Warri, Delta State, Nigerian businessman Ndubuokwu Uche Victor has sought to remove financial obstacles that often prevent underprivileged children from continuing their education. The scholarships cover the entirety of the children’s six-year secondary schooling.
At the same time, Mr Victor donated a substantial consignment of food items to sustain the school’s daily feeding programme. The donation included nine bags of rice, five bags of beans, fifteen cartons of spaghetti, seasoning cubes, tomato paste, palm and groundnut oil, as well as baskets of crayfish and pepper. These supplies are expected to maintain the free-meal initiative for the school’s 325 or more orphans and vulnerable pupils.
The school’s management expressed appreciation, describing the gesture as “a blessing that nourishes both the body and the spirit of the children.” CleverMinds Educational Foundation, which runs the school, provides tuition, meals, and emotional support to children from some of Warri’s most disadvantaged communities. Founded in 2017, the foundation has educated over 300 pupils, many of whom are orphans or from single-parent households.
Mr Victor, reflecting on the initiative, said: “The faces you see are not the faces I have helped; they are the faces God has reached through me.” His commitment to giving back stems from both faith and personal experience. Beginning his professional journey in 2009 as a manager with a servicing company, he later took a driving role in order to understand the logistics industry from the ground up. He advanced to Logistics Lead, later moving into the oil and gas sector, before founding his own firm in 2020, which operates in logistics, procurement, and construction.
Despite his business success, Mr Victor remains connected to Warri, supporting children’s education, community initiatives, and faith-based projects. The management and pupils of CleverMinds School described his actions as “a testimony of faith in action,” noting that the scholarships and food items will sustain the children and serve as an example to others.
For many pupils, meeting a benefactor personally involved in their future was a novel experience, bringing smiles, tears, and prayers of gratitude as Mr Victor handed over the scholarships and supplies. His story, rising from modest beginnings to build a business while using his resources to serve the community, demonstrates a belief that true success honours God by uplifting others. Through his ongoing contributions, hundreds of children in Iyara now have not only access to food and education but also a renewed sense of hope.
