2027: Aborisade urges PDP to return to ward-level mobilisation

As political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, United Kingdom-based human rights lawyer and governorship aspirant, Chief Niyi Aborisade, has urged leaders and members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and foster unity to ensure the party’s victory at the polls.

Aborisade made the call during a stakeholders’ consultative meeting held in Yemetu, Ibadan, which brought together PDP chieftains from the 11 local government areas in Ibadanland.

The meeting was part of his ongoing statewide consultations in pursuit of his governorship ambition under the PDP.

Addressing party leaders and faithful, Aborisade emphasised the importance of collective action and internal cohesion ahead of the party primaries, assuring that Governor Seyi Makinde would provide a level playing field for all aspirants.

“We have visited Oke-Ogun, Ogbomoso, and Ibarapa zones on multiple occasions. We are loyal to the PDP and not leaving. The party is our home. The primary election is near, and we must mobilise from the wards, compounds, and zones to secure victory. Unity is key.

“We cannot do this alone. We will use Oyo State to reposition the Yoruba people as Balogun Oderinlo did in his time. I am your son, and I know your efforts will not be in vain,” he said.

In a show of solidarity, key PDP stakeholders at the meeting declared their support for Aborisade’s ambition, describing him as a man of integrity, character, and proven loyalty to the party.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Aborisade said the gathering was aimed at engaging PDP leaders across the 11 local government areas of Ibadanland to develop strategies for victory.

“This meeting was to engage PDP leaders in all 11 local government areas of Ibadanland. It was about strategy. I am grateful that the leaders unanimously endorsed my candidature. They were pleased that someone with a long record of standing for the people is stepping forward to serve,” he said.

Among those present were Mallam Muideen Yusuf, Hon. Ibrahim Adelabu, Rafiu Ibrahim, and other grassroots mobilisers.

Mallam Yusuf said, “We must intensify our efforts for this project. Balogun Oderinlo conquered invaders; he is Aborisade’s forefather. This is more than politics — it is destiny.”

On his part, Adelabu added, “Chief Niyi Aborisade is God-fearing, consistent, and deeply rooted in the PDP. He is an author, lawyer, industrialist, and rights activist. We are fully behind him. What we need now is strong, strategic mobilisation at all levels.”

The leaders also praised Aborisade’s family legacy, noting that his father, Chief Abel Aborisade, was a loyal and long-serving member of the PDP.
