to commission projects, declare 9th national MSME Clinic open
Vice President Kashim Shettima is scheduled to visit Katsina State on Monday and Tuesday, where he is expected to declare open the 9th expanded national Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Clinic.
The vice president is also expected to commission some state government projects, including a N1.9 billion, 3.3-kilometre expanded road in the state metropolitan area.
Speaking to newsmen on the visit, the Director-General of the State Enterprises Development Agency (KASEDA), Aisha Aminu, said in addition to the MSME Clinic opening, Shetima would participate in a panel session to discuss the way forward for MSMEs in the country.
Aminu said the vice president would also participate in the graduation and award night for state MSME trainees, where various prizes would be doled out to those who had performed excellently during their training process.
Furthermore, the Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transportation, Sani Magaji, said Shetima is also scheduled to inaugurate the 3.3-kilometre dual-expanded road project within the metropolis.
Magaji said the road, which commenced from the Central Mosque in the heart of the state capital and ended at the Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) roundabout, was constructed at the cost of N1.9 billion.
Also to be commissioned by the vice president is a Farmers Radio station as well as an e-centre where farmers from across the state can send in questions regarding best farming practices and be provided with answers from experts.
Speaking, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Prof. Ahmed Bakori, said with more than 70 per cent of people in the state being farmers, the radio station would help reach out to them with vital information and feedback.
“The radio station would offer on-demand support and advice, covering topics from production management to marketing and pest control.
“The farmers would have a radio station where they would be able to communicate and ask questions, so that an expert would be able to respond to them.
“With that, we believe that the management aspect of our agriculture production will be seriously addressed,” he added.
Our correspondent reports that the last time the vice president was in the state was in July, following the demise of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
