Adamawa police deploy officers ahead of planned protest

The Adamawa State Police Command has deployed security personnel to strategic locations and critical infrastructure across the state ahead of a planned protest by the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) scheduled for today, Monday, October 20, 2025.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the move is part of proactive measures to safeguard lives and property and maintain law and order during the demonstration.

The police, in collaboration with other security agencies, have also launched a joint operation and “show of strength” along major routes and public spaces. The exercise is designed to deter any potential violence, reassure residents, and reinforce the state’s security architecture.

Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, called on residents to remain calm and continue their lawful activities, assuring them that security agencies are fully prepared to ensure peace throughout the state.

“The Command reiterates its commitment to protecting human rights while ensuring that any attempt to disrupt public peace will be addressed firmly and professionally,” the statement added.

The police urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement officers to maintain a peaceful and secure environment during and after the protest.
