As part of preparations towards its regional debut, United Nigeria Airlines (UNA) has hosted a strategic agency forum to foster stronger collaboration with travel agents ahead of the launch of its Abuja–Accra and Lagos–Accra flights slated for November 10, 2025.
The forum, held yesterday in Lagos, brought together top travel agencies and key industry partners, including members of the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies (NANTA), as well as representatives from Sabre, Wakanow, American Express Travels, Orih Travels, and other major players in the aviation and travel ecosystem.
United Nigeria Airlines said the engagement was aimed at strengthening its marketing network and deepening relationships with agents who play a critical role in the airline’s growing domestic and international operations.
The forum also comes as the carrier expands its fleet with the recent addition of two Airbus A320-200 and a CRJ-900 aircraft, bringing its total domestic destinations to 14.
Delivering a presentation at the event, the airline’s Head of Business Development and Strategy, Mrs Ifeoma Ekwerike, described Accra as a strategic entry point into the West African market.
She explained that the Nigeria–Ghana route handles over 240,000 passengers yearly, making it one of the region’s busiest air corridors.
“United Nigeria Airlines is entering the Accra market with reliable schedules, competitive fares, modern aircraft, and attractive incentives for our agents.
“We will operate daily non-stop flights from Abuja to Accra and four weekly flights from Lagos to Accra beginning November 10,” she informed.
In his remarks, Chief Operating Officer, UNA, Mazi Osita Okonkwo, lauded the travel agents for their continued support and reaffirmed the airline’s commitment to service excellence and shared prosperity.
He emphasised that United Nigeria Airlines was currently acquiring six Boeing 737-800 aircraft to further enhance capacity and improve service delivery.
The highlight of the event was a lucky dip draw conducted by the Chief Commercial Officer, UNA, as several travel agents won return tickets to Accra aboard the airline’s inaugural flight.
