A new wave of innovation is taking shape in Kosofe, Lagos, as the local government partners with the private sector to promote youth empowerment through technology and creativity.

The Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Barr. Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe, announced the initiative during an interactive programme titled “A Day With The Chairman”, held on October 25 at the Kosofe Civic Hall. The event brought together students, youth leaders, and policymakers to discuss youth inclusion and innovation-driven development.

During the engagement, student representatives from tertiary institutions across the Kosofe Federal Constituency presented a Students’ Developmental Agenda, outlining proposals for collaboration in education, technology, and youth welfare.

The highlight of the event was the unveiling of a partnership between the local government and Finesser Ltd, a technology and innovation framework company, for the establishment of the Kosofe Creative and Digital Innovation Hub. The project has been described as “the Silicon Valley of Lagos grassroots.”

“This initiative is spot-on and future-forward,” said CI Finesser, Group Chief Executive of Finesser Ltd. “Kosofe has the potential to produce the next generation of tech builders, creators, and entrepreneurs—from fintech developers to Afrobeats innovators.”

The partnership aligns with Finesser’s Talent Xport Initiative, which includes the Lagos CreativeXport and Nigeria CreativeXport programmes aimed at unlocking Nigeria’s creative economy by connecting innovators and creators to training, technology, and funding.

Prominent guests at the event included Hon. Abiodun Arayomi (Member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Kosofe I), Hon. Tobi Oladejo (Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties), and APC Youth Leader, Murtala Seriki, alongside student leaders and past presidents of the Greater Kosofe Students Union (GKSU).

According to Hon. Ogunlewe, the initiative marks a new phase in youth development for the area.

“We’re building a Kosofe that listens, learns, and leads,” he said. “Our goal is to give young people the tools and confidence to create the future they work hard for—and deserve.”
