The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed Rotimi Amaechi‘s call for Nigerians to mobilise against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 as a “political hallucination”.
In a statement on Wednesday signed by its spokesman, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, titled “Mobilise Who? A Politician Rejected at Home Cannot Lead a National Revolt”, the APC described Amaechi as a “political orphan” disowned in his home state of Rivers, nationally irrelevant and “steadily sinking into total political oblivion”.
The statement noted that in Rivers State today, mentioning Amaechi’s name in political discussions is viewed as a provocative joke, adding that a man who has lost his structure, followers and voice should not lecture Nigerians on mobilisation.
It questioned where Amaechi would mobilise, noting that he cannot lead a national movement when his own backyard has padlocked the gate against him and that his bitterness is not a national agenda but the cry of a wounded loser still smarting from the 2022 presidential primary humiliation.
The party said while Amaechi is “busy trying to resurrect his collapsed career”, President Bola Tinubu is delivering tangible results: the NELFUND initiative is opening access to education for millions, CREDITCORP is supporting SMEs across the country, record foreign direct investment interest has been noted from Qatar, UAE, Europe, and the Ogunlesi-led group, and there is unprecedented modernisation of highways, railways, ports, and aviation, alongside reforms in agriculture, mining, and security that are stabilising Nigeria’s future.
The statement added that even opposition voters grudgingly admit that Tinubu is miles ahead of any contender, and that Amaechi lacks a political structure, as his political bitterness does not align with a national agenda.
The statement read: “The truth Amaechi avoids is simple: his problem is not Tinubu – his problem is political irrelevance. It is always the loudest losers who shout the most about 2027.
And Amaechi’s noise is nothing more than the wounded cry of someone who has not healed from the humiliation of 2022.
“Amaechi cannot preach mobilisation without a platform. The question Nigerians should ask Amaechi is simple: Where is your political structure, where are your followers, and where is your relevance? In politics, you cannot give what you don’t have. Amaechi cannot mobilise a nation when he cannot command a polling unit. President Tinubu’s 2027 victory is not a possibility – It is an unfolding reality.
“Amaechi’s sudden activism is a familiar script: failed politicians always imagine a revolution when they can no longer win elections. But Nigerians know better. 2027 will not reward bitterness, betrayal or political tourism. It will reward leadership, courage and results. And Tinubu has all three in abundance. Amaechi should first mobilise himself out of political obscurity. Nigerians are not fools. You don’t defeat a performing President with a disgruntled politician who has lost his home, his base, and his relevance.”
