A non-profit organisation committed to supporting academically gifted but financially disadvantaged young Nigerian women, Ajesola Solarin Majekodunmi Foundation (ASMAF), has awarded scholarships to five female students attending federal and state universities.
This was disclosed during ASMAF’s yearly awards and fundraising event held at Muson Centre in Lagos.
The event drew an array of dignitaries, including legal experts, academics, and top government officials.
Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, who was chairman of the occasion, lauded ASMAF’s commitment to fostering education for underprivileged girls and highlighted the transformative impact such scholarships have on Nigeria’s future.
He described the award ceremony as a celebration of hope, perseverance and collective responsibility, adding: “It reflects the profound truth that education remains the most important instrument for social transformation and national liberty.”
Alausa added, “Every scholarship awarded represents an investment in human capital, an affirmation of faith in our young people.”
