Pioneer Toastmasters International club in West Africa, Eagle Toastmasters Club, has said it has brought about and birthed transformative leadership in Nigeria since its inception in 2005, restating its commitment to raising leaders.
It tasked Nigerians on personal development, saying there is no loss in becoming a better version of themselves.
The advice was given in Victoria Island, Lagos, during the announcement for its 20th-anniversary celebration. Themed “20 Years of Leadership Excellence,” the anniversary celebration will feature tributes to founding members, reflections from distinguished alumni, and recognitions of outstanding service.
Since its founding in 2005, Eagle Toastmasters Club has stood as a beacon for professionals, entrepreneurs, and changemakers seeking to refine their public speaking, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
It has inspired the creation of over 30 Toastmasters clubs across West Africa and produced influential leaders who continue to excel in business, education, governance, and community development.
Speaking on the anniversary, Chair of the 20th Anniversary Planning Committee, Dr. Amy Shumbusho, said: “Eagle Toastmasters Club represents more than eloquence; it embodies courage, discipline, and the pursuit of transformative leadership. Our 20th anniversary is not only a celebration of our journey but also a renewed commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders.”

Guests will enjoy an evening of elegance, networking, and inspiration as members, partners, and friends of the club gather to honour Eagle Toastmasters’ enduring legacy of excellence.
“We have created and birthed many clubs outside Nigeria. Communication has made an impact for me, not just in building confidence but in inspiring other people. The future is about how we can inspire communities. Regardless of who you are, Toastmasters has transformed how people communicate. We have been able to inspire people across generations.”
Past President of Eagle Toastmasters Club, Unekwu Nwaezeapu, said: “Twenty years means transformation in leadership, communication, legacy of transforming communicators, and transforming professionals. What started as a simple desire has evolved into over 40 clubs in Nigeria and in 16 countries in West Africa.
“Our plan is to be represented across Nigeria and hope that Nigeria becomes a district, as we currently share a district with 11 other countries. The truth is that everyone needs good communication skills, no matter the nature of business.”
