Greensprings lauds AJ Tennis over talent development

The Director of Greensprings Schools, Mrs Lai Koiki, yesterday, commended US-based AJ Tennis International for pursuing the “Better Nigeria through Sports” project.

Speaking at the Lekki Campus of the school, where the president of the foundation, Mr Tolu Adeleye, gave a talk on the Hedonic and Eudemonic value theories postulated by the philosopher Aristotle, Mrs Koiki, said such interaction was necessary for the Nigerian youth to focus on values such as good morals, education, concern for others and kindness, which impact the society positively.

Earlier, Adeleye emphasised the need for Nigeria’s youth to imbibe the concept of the three Cs – Curiousity for the world, concern for the world and confidence to impact the world.

A team of coaches later introduced the major strokes of tennis to 204 students in the school’s four-court tennis facility.

The AJ Tennis Academy International had on Wednesday held a workshop for coaches at the National Stadium, Lagos, which was virtually led by Cesar Gomez, a former ATP Tennis professional from the USA.

Gomez emphasised the need for professionalism and high moral standards among coaches, and also taught the concept of building a player from scratch taking into consideration the players physical abilities, temperament and talent.

The final coaching workshop, formerly slated for Ikoyi Club, will now hold at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, today, starting at 10 am.
